"Trees are key pillars of the world for both humans and the environment. They benefit us by purifying water, air and creating better social conditions. They benefit the environment by providing homes for various forms of life, cooling our climate and improving our soil." - Tree-Nation
humans deforest approximately ten million hectares of forest annually. To put this into perspective, that's an area the size of Portugal every year. As a response to global deforestation, we manufacture your nest without cutting down a single cork oak. Instead, we strip its bark to harvest the cork we use and it is during each successive cycle of bark regeneration that cork oak consumes progressively more carbon dioxide. This means our fellow ogies are not only fighting against deforestation but also contributing to our cause of capturing more carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere. OGI NEST has also partnered with Tree-Nation, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to fight climate change through global reforestation and conservation projects. In doing so, we help restore forests, create jobs, support local communities and protect biodiversity.
for every product you order, a tree will be planted in your name.
together, we are working towards reaching our goal of planting one million trees!
how it works.
when you complete an order, you will first receive an order confirmation sent to the email you provided. Following this, you will receive a separate email from Tree-Nation with the details about your Tree-Gift. This will include the species, the conservation project and the planting location of the tree. You may then proceed to their website to plant this tree which will be displayed in our forest!
"but why can't I choose which species and where I plant my Tree-Gift?"
Tree-Nation plants over 300 different tree species across 96 reforestation projects around the world. It is in everyone's best interest for Tree-Nation to carefully select which trees to plant according to the specific benefits they offer for the environment and local population. Tree-Nation assigns each tree its own unique URL meaning the species, the conservation project, the planting location information and the carbon dioxide compensation values are accessible for ogies to track throughout the lifetime of the tree.
